Current Work Available in Bronze
Oreland C. Joe's experience in working with bronze dates back to the 1980's when he created three different images in bronze. In 1992, Oreland experimented with wax and clay to create the "Spotted Eagle" sculpture. The "Spotted Eagle" sculpture became very popular and sold out in six weeks. Oreland commented that "clay and wax offer the artist a diverse and versatile approach to creating a work of art". Technical areas, concepts, anatomical structures and variations of textures are goals of Oreland when he creates his sculptures.
Oreland's ideas and creations are based on the southern Ute's of southern Colorado and the Navajo people. Both tribes offer endless themes for the artist. Oreland creates sculptures of adults, children, animals and events that occurred in the early 1800's to the 1920's.
Bronze Smith Fine Art Foundry of Prescott Valley, Arizona, cast most of Oreland's work. In 1996, the Bronze Smith Fine Art Foundry cast Oreland's creation of "Chief Standing Bear" for the Ponca City Native American Foundation. The "Chief Standing Bear" bronze statue stands twenty two feet tall and is standing in Bear Park, Ponca City, Oklahoma. The Bronze Smith Fine Art Foundry has familiarize themselves with Oreland's work and maintains the high expectations and quality standards of the artist.
